OmniOutliner for iPad 1.1

September 27, 2011

OmniOutliner for iPad 1.1.3 improves compatibility with future iOS updates and fixes a couple bugs.

Bug Fixes

  • A long tap and hold on a row will no longer be able to cause the row to move to the end of the document.
  • The Simple HTML exporter will now correctly indent rows when the row has a visible note.

OmniOutliner for iPad 1.1 is a major update that adds eight language localizations, text searching, copy/paste for rows, and more.

Features

  • Text search inside a document is now available in the Document tab of the tools popover.
  • Row(s) can now be copied and pasted. If pasted into another app, the plain text export format will be used.
  • Multiple paragraphs of text can now be copied from another source and pasted as individual rows.
  • Buttons for expand and collapse all rows have been added to the Document tab of the tools popover.
  • Options for line break and row split have been added to the contextual menu while in text edit mode.
  • Documents can now be directly exported to any app on your iPad that will accept the format. This option can be accessed under the share button in the document picker.
  • Row dragging can now be started from any location on the row.
  • OmniOutliner for iPad is now translated for French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Chinese, and Russian.

Bug Fixes

  • Export/Import
    • Exporters now obey the summary, sorting and column visibility specified in the OmniOutliner document.
    • A progress indicator has been added for export file format conversion.
    • HTML exporters will now correctly support transparent HSB background colors.
    • While connected to iTunes and running OmniOutliner, a file dragged into the OmniOutliner file list in iTunes will now immediately appear in the document picker on the device.
  • Display
    • Column name editor will now properly display text longer than the field allows.
    • Fixed a regression with note cells not properly wrapping to the displayed width.
    • Changed font inspector to display fractional point sizes.
    • Fixed a case where a cell in a previously selected row could reappear as selected after changing its column type.
  • Interaction
    • The edit menu now appears immediately after a long tap to position the insertion point, rather than appearing after a delay.
    • Tapping after the end of a line will now put the insertion point at the end of the last word on the line, rather than sometimes putting it at the beginning of the next line.
    • The tab key on hardware keyboards will now continue navigating to the next row.
    • Using the hardware keyboard to move up/down while the insertion point is at the end of the line will now more reliably move to the previous/next line instead of moving to the beginning of the current line.
    • Switching away from OmniOutliner to another app will no longer end editing, but will simply autosave any edits in place (making it easier to come back and paste content at your text insertion point).
    • Touching an inspector button and dragging away from it will no longer be treated as a tap on the button.
    • Fixed behavior of the Select context menu in text cells when the insertion point is after punctuation.
    • Expand and collapse all notes option is now always available even when there is no selection.
    • Fixed a bug that prevented selecting condensed fonts (for example "Marker Felt Thin").
  • Data Integrity
    • Edits to text cells will be periodically autosaved and considered as undo points.
    • Fixed a bug that could cause cells to flip from negative to positive in columns with a negative format that uses parenthesis.
    • Undo/redo of sorted checkbox and popup list columns should restore properly.
    • Changing the order of members of a sorted popup list column that has been added, undone, and then redone now sorts properly.
  • Performance
    • Improved document loading speed.
