Requires iOS 10

OmniFocus 2.17 — September 9, 2016

OmniFocus 2.17 for iOS is an update to support iOS 10 and watchOS 3. This release also requires iOS 10 and watchOS 3.

  • Today Widget — We’ve revamped our today widget with a header row that includes a New Inbox Item button and tappable summary counts. In compact mode, the widget shows the same item as Apple Watch would.
  • 3D Touch — The compact display of the Today Widget is also available in the Quick Actions menu when force-pressing the OmniFocus icon.
  • Apple Watch — Use the Digital Crown (or swipe up/down) to change what’s shown in the bottom slot on the OmniFocus home screen. Choices are:
    • Continuity — Shows what you’re looking at in OmniFocus on iPhone, or is blank if you’re viewing screen on iPhone that is otherwise already represented on the Watch home screen.
    • Next Up — Shows the same action that our old Glance would have shown. This is generally the first available item in the Perspective(s) chosen in Today and Watch settings.
    • Custom Perspective [PRO] — Shows the custom Perspective chosen in Today and Watch settings, if any.

This release adds the ability to specify an encryption passphrase separate from your sync password. Don’t set a separate passphrase until you are running OmniFocus 2.16 on all of your iOS devices and OmniFocus 2.7 (in public test as of Sept 1) on all of your Macs.

  • Encryption — We added the ability to set a separate encryption passphrase and to revert to using the sync password for encryption.
  • 1Password — OmniFocus now integrates with 1Password for iOS for sync and encryption credentials.
  • Mail Drop — Fixed a problem where attachments with non-ascii characters in their names would be missing their contents once imported.
  • Database Migration — Fixed several problems with the database migration flow.
  • Section Headers — Fixed a problem updating counts and labels in section header rows on iPad.
  • URL Schemeomnifocus:///paste URLs now support folders and projects as targets.
  • Localizations — Please let us know if you come across any remaining localization omissions or problems!

  • Attachments — Fixed a problem where attachments could disappear when the server database was replaced manually.
  • Software Update — Fixed a problem with the preference to send anonymous data.
  • Action Groups — Fixed a problem where children of heavily-nested action groups were not showing as available.
