  • Many fixes to improve the stability, completeness, and correctness of imports.
  • Improved resource leveling performance, fixed hangs and resource over-allocation problems.
  • Dragging on the Gantt chart no longer gets stuck with some third party mouse input drivers (Wacom tablet mouse and Synergy keyboard/mouse sharing software to name two).

    OmniPlan 1.6 rc 1 Released!

by Skwirl on August 14, 2008 | Comment

Hello OmniPlan users! we're getting very close to OmniPlan 1.6 final so if you find any issues with this release, please let us know as soon as possible!

Some highlights include a fix for an issue where importing files that included duplicate task or resource UIDs were not resolvable and made OmniPlan unstable. We also fixed some leveling issues involving schedule exceptions that would either infinitely loop or set a task's end date earlier than the actual start date.

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development. There are many more changes in this version which you can read about in our complete release notes here.

Your feedback will help us improve the software and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, and ruins your weekend.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.

OK, enough chit-chat, you can download the rc here!

Hey everybody, OmniPlan 1.6 Beta 2 is ready for public beta testing!

We fixed some more leveling bugs that could overload resources and cause infinite loops, a regression bug that caused work schedules to be shifted, some issues with importing Microsoft Project files, and made the fill color on Gantt bars in images and printouts match more closely to what's rendered on-screen.

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development. There are many more changes in this version which you can read about in our complete release notes here.

Your feedback will help us improve the software and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, and ruins your weekend.

Hey everybody, OmniPlan 1.6 Beta 1 is ready for public beta testing! If you saw the Sneaky Peek announcement but wanted to hang back for the beta, now is the time!

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development. There are many changes in this version which you can read about in our complete release notes here, but some of the highlights of OmniPlan 1.6 (for those of you who didn't check out the Sneaky Peek) include:

    • Importing Microsoft Project 2007 is now supported.
    • Dragging on the Gantt chart no longer gets stuck with some third party mouse input drivers (Wacom tablet mouse and Synergy keyboard/mouse sharing software, to name two).
    • Fixed a number of rounding errors that resulted in slightly incorrect or weirdly formatted time spans (“1h 1s”, or “59m 60s” instead of “1h”).

In OmniPlan 1.6 Beta 1, we fixed a bug where undoing changes to resource assignments for fixed duration tasks resulted in incorrect duration and effort, as well as corrected some minor rounding errors in leveling that resulted in a rare infinite loop. We also fixed code that was intended to find and correct the problem that sometimes caused bad resource allocation when the assigned resource has no normal working hours in their schedule.

Your feedback will help us improve the software and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, and ruins your weekend.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.

OK, enough chit-chat, you can download the beta here!

Hey everybody! We've been hard at work on an update to OmniPlan 1.5.1 and wanted to ask for some brave volunteers to take OmniPlan 1.6 Sneaky Peek 1 for a spin.

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development and the Sneaky Peek designation means it hasn't been tested as much as our public betas have. There are many changes in this version which you can read about in our complete release notes here, but some of the highlights of this version include:

    • Importing Microsoft Project 2007 is now supported.
    • Dragging on the Gantt chart no longer gets stuck with some third party mouse input drivers (Wacom tablet mouse and Synergy keyboard/mouse sharing software, to name two).
    • Fixed a number of rounding errors that resulted in slightly incorrect or weirdly formatted time spans (“1h 1s”, or “59m 60s” instead of “1h”).

Your feedback will help us improve the software and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, and ruins your weekend. To quote the OmniPlan Sneaky Peek page, “Beyond this point there be dragons…”.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.

If you understand the risks and still want to give our Sneaky Peek a try, you can download it here.
