Whether you’re waiting for an iPhone Duo or just watching how the exciting new device progresses, we’re happy to let you know that OmniFocus and OmniOutliner will be ready, with OmniGraffle 8 test builds following right behind.

At Omni, we are incredibly proud of our long history of shipping app updates—designed and developed for each new Apple platform—alongside new Apple hardware. Omni software was available in the iPhone App Store the day it launched, and we were ready for the hardware launch of the iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. We’re pleased this legacy continues with the upcoming launch of the iPhone Duo!
OmniFocus 4.10 for iPhone and iPad, available in the App Store later this week, efficiently displays content and controls on the iPhone Duo’s compact outer display, adapts to the unique layout of the iPhone Duo’s spacious interior display, and is ready to multitask alongside another app or OmniFocus window in Split View.
Additionally, this update brings landscape orientation support to OmniFocus on all iPhones. While working on updating OmniFocus to support these new display sizes and orientations, we also updated the Inspector to display as a more-functional (and more attractive!) sheet in scenarios in which there is not enough space available to display the Inspector as a sidebar—like when OmniFocus is open alongside another application on an iPad.
OmniOutliner 6.4 for iPad and iPhone, also releasing later this week, brings the full outlining power of OmniOutliner 6 to the iPhone Duo. In this update, OmniOutliner is particularly impressive on the larger iPhone Duo inner display, which provides an optimized experience for editing complex outlines. As the iPhone Duo is opened or closed, the OmniOutliner Pro sidebar automatically adapts to the changing display size and pose.

We also began updating OmniGraffle 8.0 pre-release test builds, currently in TestFlight, for the iPhone Duo. You can expect to see additional refinements in forthcoming test builds as we continue to polish up OmniGraffle 8.0 on all supported platforms.
Updating Omni’s apps for the iPhone Duo has been a fun challenge! Our full suite of apps continues to be designed and developed specifically for Apple platforms, and we spent our summer adopting Apple’s newest platform technologies in OmniFocus 4, OmniOutliner 6, and OmniGraffle 8. This gave us a running start as we approached developing for the unique specifications of the iPhone Duo, but still left a range of technical and design hurdles to clear.
For example, our team was tasked with adapting our existing toolbars for a vertical presentation, and we could no longer assume that specific app layouts were only achievable on iPad. The search experience in OmniFocus 4.10 on iPhone Duo provides a great example of the confluence of these challenges—while the landscape orientation of the inner iPhone Duo display provides an app experience akin to working in OmniFocus on a full-size iPad, the search button is placed in the vertical toolbar, and when accessed the search field always presents along the bottom of the iPhone screen, maintaining a consistent search experience across all iPhone Duo display poses.
We can’t wait to try these app updates out for ourselves on an iPhone Duo soon! If you’re among the lucky few receiving an iPhone Duo this Friday, we’d love to hear what you think of these app updates. And, if an Omni app has also empowered you—on any device—leaving an App Store review is a great way to share that experience with our team while helping others discover Omni apps in the App Store.
P.S. We hear OmniFocus may feel quite “at home” on another all-new Apple device, coming next month. Stay tuned!
