The Blog

Just a quick reminder to let you know that the OmniFocus evening event at Tekserve on the 27th has a few spots still open, so if you're interested in coming by (there will be food! And beverages! And possibly an interpretive dance performance!*) please make sure to sign up ahead of time.*Well, probably not. Hopefully not.

Nothing bad happened, so there's been no changes since the release of 4.2.1 beta 2 last week (excepting a version number change and various street cred that comes from being legit).

Go grab it at the download page and enjoy!

Huzzah!

We've figured out the issue that was causing kernel panics when saving files for some users. Turns out, it had to do with the file icon getting written out. Kevin spied a line of code that was at fault, and was thinking of commenting it out, and then Ken was all, “Fly, you fools!!” and he jumped right up on the build machine and started bellowing “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!” at the kernel panic, and just like that it was gone.

Or, something to that effect.

Anyways, you can find the kindly release at the beta page, enjoy!

OmniPlan 1.1.2 is final!

by Skwirl on August 15, 2007 | Comment

OmniPlan 1.1.2 is now available! Nothing has changed from 1.1.2 RC 1, but the highlights for 1.1.2 include Mac OS X Version 10.5 Leopard support, fixes for some Microsoft Project MPX and XML import bugs, a fix for importing .CSV files encoded in UTF-16, a fix for exports to OmniGraffle for French and Simplified Chinese users, and some localization fixes. You can view a complete list of changes in the OmniPlan 1.1.2 release notes here.

This is a free update for folks who already own an OmniPlan 1 license, so we encourage all OmniPlan users to upgrade to the latest version.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments about OmniPlan. You can contact us directly thru our support page or by using the Send Feedback commend in OmniPlan's Help Menu.

Hey, you all remember my last blog post concerning the release of OmniGraffle 4.2? Remember how I said that it was the end of development for OmniGraffle 4?

Well, I was wrong.

Oh, and sufficiently chastised for it as well. (not by anyone here at Omni, we're all too nice for chastising, however I have friends in other circles who aren't as forgiving)

Anyways, we found a few important bugs in the final 4.2 release, they have been addressed and such, and the beta release is available at the recently-resurrected beta page.

OmniPlan 1.1.2 RC 1 is now available! We've added a couple of MPX bug fixes, updated some Dutch and Italian localization files, and fixed an issue where exporting to OmniGraffle in French and Simplified Chinese resulted in a file with encoded tags instead of data from your plan.

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development. Your feedback will help us improve the software, and we apologize if it crashes, corrupts your files, or otherwise misbehaves. A more stable release is also available.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.

A long release process, finally done.

This marks the end of development on OmniGraffle 4, provided nothing unexpected occurs with the release of Mac OS X 10.5 (fingers crossed).

The upshot of this is that we're all now working on OmniGraffle 5. And speaking of Leopard, expect to see a public beta of Graffle 5 after the release of Mac OS X 10.5, as it will be required.

A couple of caveats concerning OmniGraffle 4.2 for those who haven't been running the beta releases:

  • OmniGraffle 4.2 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later to run
  • OmniGraffle 4.2 is actually named “OmniGraffle 4” or “OmniGraffle Professional 4” and then localized to hide the number 4 in the Finder. This is done so users of Graffle 2 and Graffle 3 can download and install version 4 without overwriting their existing version of the application

Only change from the release candidate last week was a little icon polish.

Download, and enjoy!

Just a smattering of bug fixes this go-around.

Release candidate, thought we'd never make it. Barring unforeseen circumstances, expect the final release of OmniGraffle 4.2 (and the last Graffle 4 release as we start in full on OmniGraffle 5) real soon now, like proabably next week.

Download OmniGraffle 4.2 rc 1 and read the latest release notes here.

Videos often answer questions better than words (except in this notable case, which is driving me out of my tree, WHAT IS IT GRRARRGH), so if you've been sitting around hoping we'd post some short overview videos on how OmniPlan works (gosh, and who hasn't?), today is your lucky day! Tasks, dependencies, baselines . . . all the rich, creamery project management goodness—in four handy files.

Thanks to ScreenCastsOnline, we now have video overviews for OmniOutliner, OmniGraffle, and OmniPlan. Take a look if you'd like to get a nice little tutorial for any of those apps.
