OmniPlan 1.6.2 has been released!
As always, we’d like to thank everyone who provided crash reports, bug reports, and feedback over the last couple of months. If you'd like to read release notes in their entirety you can click here. The highlights of this update include:
In trial mode, instead of limiting the user to 20 tasks we now support unlimited functionality for 14 days.
Fixed what was easily our most common crasher (in -[OPGanttView drawRect:])
Improvements to localizations.
Fixed a bug preventing documents from being overwritten correctly when saved to AFP filesystems, instead creating a new file with tilde in the filename (like foo~.omniplan).
The horizontal time scale set by the “Scale to fit” menu items is now saved so that the project will be scaled the same when you save and reload it.
Fixed a couple more leveling loops.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.
OmniPlan 1.6.2 is a free and highly recommended update to all registered users of OmniPlan, so fire up your built-in software updater or head to our website and download OmniPlan 1.6.2 today!
We decided to nail down a few nasty issues and release another beta before running off to WWDC next week; as always you can read about said changes at the historical release notes page or the beta download page, and what follows is a brief summation.
We've addressed a couple of issues that popped up in the previous 5.2 beta 4 release, one relating to changes we made to dragging layers between canvases and shared layers, the other a repeating crash when attempting to inspect the drawing tools. Add to that some other bugs fixed concerning canvases and another crash when dragging objects from stencils, and that about sums it up.

Historical release notes
Hot on the heels of beta 4, we're releasing OmniGraphSketcher beta 5.
As promised last week, this beta includes support for Quick Look and Spotlight indexing. Older .ograph files will need to be re-saved to get these features. Quick Look and Spotlight are also now enabled for .graph files created with Robin Stewart Software Graph Sketcher.
We've added a menu command called “Make Current Styles Default” which saves your current fonts and axis visibility settings as defaults for future graphs.
Clicking the “Connect Points” button at the bottom of the data inspector will now connect points in the order they appear in the list (creation order), rather than from left to right. The other methods of connection (style inspector, Edit menu item) continue to connect from left to right.
OmniGraphSketcher documents in progress are now auto-saved. If you should experience a crash, your document will be reopened when you relaunch the application.
If OmniGraphSketcher does crash on you, please be sure to click the button to send us the crash report, which will help us make the final version as stable as humanly possible. If you have time to attach your file and/or tell us what you were doing when it crashed, that's even better.
You can check out the rest of the release notes and download beta 5 here (or just “Check for Updates…” within the application).
OmniOutliner 3.9 beta 3 is now available! There's a lot of small fixes and features in this release. Most notably, the issues with AppleScripts on the toolbar should be fully fixed now and alternate row color is now supported in DHTML and Quick Look. There's also been more work on the docx export. InDesign and OpenOffice should no longer crash when trying to import the docx files. Please read the release notes for full details.
The issue with the software updater leaving the old version behind when not asked for should be resolved as well. You will still see this issue when updating to beta 3 though since the fix won't take effect until you're updating from beta 3.
As always, please let us know if you run into any problems by using the Send Feedback option under the Help menu in the app or by sending an email to omnioutliner@omnigroup.com. If you're ready to give it a go, head over to the download page or use the updater in the app!
A couple of important things to talk about in this release, aside from various bug fixes (which are faithfully documented in the historical release notes).
The first of which is, we've added multi-touch support for zooming the view, and resizing and rotating selections. If you've got one of the newer MacBooks that support multi-touch on the trackpad, a pinch will zoom the view in and out. If there's a selection, pinching will resize that selection, and you can also rotate said selection. Please let us know how this works out for you, we have a feeling that at present the multi-touch support is somewhat sensitive.
Secondly, we've added a hidden preference to persistently display the layer status icons in the Canvases Sidebar, to match behavior that was present in OmniGraffle 4. If you'd like to have these icons show all the time (as opposed to mouseover or in their “on” state), open up Terminal.app and paste in the following and press Return:
defaults write com.omnigroup.OmniGraffle AlwaysShowLayerStatusIcons YES
If you're running OmniGraffle Professional, the above should read as:
defaults write com.omnigroup.OmniGrafflePro AlwaysShowLayerStatusIcons YES
As always, the beta page awaits.
Enjoy!
Today we're releasing OmniGraphSketcher beta 4, our biggest update since the initial beta. Here are some highlights from the release notes:
- We've added new toolbar buttons and a preliminary help book.
- Point snapping and detaching is greatly improved.
- Import can now handle all currency symbols as well as quotation marks around values.
- Lots of bug fixes related to undo/redo and copy/paste.
- Shift and command key behavior is now consistent with other Omni applications.
- .ograph files are now .zip-compressed when saved (this means smaller files now, and the return of Quick Look support in the near future).
- Many other user-reported bugs fixed. Thanks for all of your feedback!
You can grab OmniGraphSketcher beta 4 here, or via software update. As always, we'd love to hear from you via the Help > Send Feedback menu item or at omnigraphsketcher@omnigroup.com.
OmniOutliner 3.9 beta 2 is now available which fixes a handful of crashes introduced in beta 1. It also has a few improvements to the docx exporter such as retaining line breaks in row and note text and supporting PDFs. Also, when importing the docx files into Pages, attachments with spaces in the name will work, this includes LinkBack objects from OmniGraffle. This has not been addressed for MS Word yet but is something we'll be trying to for beta 3.
One other fix in this beta is for Dvorak users. We were finally able to solve the issue that prevented the 'Add Child' and 'Add Aunt' keyboard shortcut from working.
Please see the release notes for full details of the beta. And if you're using beta 1, remember you can now update through the app, just select the Check for Updates option under the OmniOutliner menu! Otherwise you can always download it from our website. If you have any feedback on this beta, please let us know by choosing Send Feedback from the Help menu or by sending an email to omnioutliner@omnigroup.com. Thanks!
Hey OmniPlan planners, 1.6.2 rc 2 has been released!
In this version we fixed a bug where the horizontal time scale set by the “Scale to fit” menu items is now saved so that the project will be scaled the same when you save and reload it. Also, we fixed a bug where OmniPlan would hang while attempting to level a task assigned to a resource group containing only resources that cannot perform work (such as materials). Other than that, the rest is unchanged and if no one reports any major issues we’ll be going final in a few weeks.
Please keep in mind that this version is still in development so feedback is encouraged and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, or ruins your weekend.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.
If you're ready to give this rc a try, you can download it here!
The most recent beta release to OmniGraffle won't have a great deal immediately visible to the user; instead we've incorporated a number of under the hood changes to how our software update mechanism works to bring it more in line with other applications we have such as OmniFocus.
Hopefully this integration has gone smoothly, however if bumps in the road appear, don't hesitate to contact us.

You can update to 1.6.1 by choosing Check for Updates from the OmniFocus menu (which will automatically update your currently running copy), or by downloading and installing the latest release from the OmniFocus web page.
