- English version of the OmniOutliner help has been updated. Localizations will be in the next release.
OmniOutliner 3.9 and newer require Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later.
OmniOutliner 3.8 is the last version that will run on Mac OS X 10.3.9.
If you're using Snow Leopard and OmniOutliner 3.9.1 or later, any custom exporters you have installed may not work. The current workaround is to change xsl:import to xsl:include. We are looking for a solution.
OmniOutliner and OmniOutliner Professional both come with a 2-week fully functional trial when used without a license.
Release notes and known issues are included within the application. Please read them by selecting Release Notes from the Help menu in OmniOutliner. You can also read about the changes in 3.9.3 on the release notes page.
OmniOutliner 3 uses a new file format and any existing OmniOutliner 2 documents will be upgraded when opened (or you will also have the option to open them as read-only). Your original document will be saved with a new file name.
Any documents you create or modify using OmniOutliner 3 will use the new file format and will have to be exported to OmniOutliner 2 format if you want to open them in that version at a later time. The OmniOutliner 2 format does not support all of the features of OmniOutliner 3 so some data may be lost.
You may wish to rename your copy of OmniOutliner 2.2.6 before installing version 3 instead of overwriting the older version. If you do need to download version 2 again OmniOutliner 2.2.6 is still available.
- Download
- Mount
- Install
- Eject
In the "Download Now" section of the sidebar on the right, click the version you want to download (OmniOutliner or OmniOutliner Pro).
Wait until the download is complete. If your web browser and system are properly configured, Disk Copy or Finder will open and mount the downloaded disk image. If this does not happen, locate in Finder the .dmg file that you downloaded and double-click it to open the file. (Double-check to be sure that you've quit all running copies of OmniOutliner before you continue any further...)
When the disk image mounts, a new Finder window will open that contains the icon for your new OmniOutliner application. Simply drag this icon to your Applications folder (or wherever you would like to keep it) to install. This copies the application from the virtual disk image onto your hard disk so the application is there for you to use whenever you like.
Once OmniOutliner is installed you can safely 'eject' the virtual disk that it came on and also dispose of the .dmg file that you downloaded if you choose. Double-click the OmniOutliner icon in the location you installed it in order to begin using the application. You may wish to drag the icon to the Dock for easy access.
