OmniWeb General FAQ

How do I get OmniWeb to remember my window size?

As of version 5.10.1 OmniWeb will automatically save the window size of the last window you use. You can always set OmniWeb to always open windows at a particular size by using the "Save Window Size" menu option found in the Window menu.

Can I use full page zoom in OmniWeb?

Yes! Just like Safari, OmniWeb supports full page zoom. However it is not on by default. To enable it, quit OmniWeb. Open a terminal window and enter the following line:

defaults write com.apple.OmniWeb WebKitDebugFullPageZoomPreferenceKey 1

When you next launch OmniWeb, all content on the page will zoom in and out.

When I try to log in to Hotmail using OmniWeb, I'm told I need to upgrade browsers. What gives?

OmniWeb is a modern and secure browser, but some sites don't detect it as such and may display with errors or reduced functionality. If you come across such a site, try opening site preferences (press command-option-comma) and on the "Other" tab, change "Identify to web servers and scripts as" to the latest version of Safari listed. Reload the page to see changes.

Since Safari and OmniWeb share the same WebKit engine, sites that work in Safari almost always work in OmniWeb. If you run across one that doesn't, be sure to email support.

Uninstall

What should I do if I need to uninstall?

Like most Mac OS X applications, our products can be uninstalled by simply dragging the icon to the trash. Once you empty the trash, the application is gone from your computer. Like Jeff Goldblum says, "There is no step three!".
