OmniPlan for iPad FAQ

  • What does it cost?

    OmniPlan for iPad is $49.99.

  • Can I use this to make changes to projects from my Mac?

Yes! The best way is to use our own Omni Sync Server as a central repository for all of your projects. (You’ll be able to take advantage of Resource Load Sharing that way, too.) But you can also use any standards-compliant WebDAV server. Tap the Servers button, add details, and pick your project to get to work.

OmniPlan can also open projects sent via email to your iPad, or via the Document Management area in iTunes.

  • Can I import a Microsoft Project file?

Not right now. It’s definitely something we’d like to add, so stay tuned!

  • How do I import OmniPlan files from my Mac into OmniPlan for iPad?

There’s a couple of ways to do this! You can email an OmniPlan 2 project file to yourself as an attachment and open it from the Mail app on your iPad.

Alternatively, you can connect your iPad to iTunes and click on your iPad in the sidebar. Then, click on the “Apps” tab and scroll down to the “File Sharing” section. You can select OmniPlan from the list of apps on your iPad and click on “Add…” to add your OmniPlan project files to your iPad.

  • Is there a discount if I already use OmniPlan for Mac?

OmniPlan for Mac and OmniPlan for iPad are separate products, with lots of independent work going into each one. We’re generally quite happy to offer bundle pricing for products purchased through our own online store, but there’s no way to do that when selling through the App Store. We’ve tried to make sure that each product is priced reasonably as its own independent product, and we hope you’ll agree that both products become even more valuable when you use them together.

  • Will future updates cost anything?

The App Store policy and the longstanding Omni Group policy agree: minor updates should be free. Of course, if there is a major overhaul of the application with lots of shiny new features, we may release it as a new product, and that would cost money. But bug fixes, minor features, and miscellaneous polishing come at no cost.

  • Do you support Dropbox?

OmniPlan for iPad does not currently support Dropbox. It is a feature that we’re looking at for the future in many of our applications, though. It’s extremely easy (and worthwhile!) to use the Omni Sync Server or any standards-compliant WebDAV server to share projects, resources, and changes.

  • Where's Feature X, or Feature Y from OmniPlan for Mac?

With enough interest and the makings of a natural fit, hopefully coming to OmniPlan for iPad! We wanted to make OmniPlan as nimble and useful as possible for the iPad, and we feel like we’re on the right track. If you have any suggestions or feature requests, please send them our way: omniplan-ipad@omnigroup.com.
