“spinning beachball” in OmniWeb

I am getting a lot of the “spinning beachball” in OmniWeb, for example when 
I click on a link.   The browser stalls during the   beachball and won’t let 
me switch tabs, scroll, or do anything else for several seconds until the 
beachball stops. Is this normal? I don’t recall that this used to happen, and other 
browsers don’t do this. I need to find out if this is a problem with my 
system or with OmniWeb.

My System: 
eMac 800 MHz G4 
Mac OS 10.2.8
768 MB memory
OmniWeb 5.1.1
