I suspect they are referring to how Safari displays the RSS feed. The MacCentral News screenshot that's next to that quote isn't the MacCentral site, but the RSS rendered in the browser. I believe that this is unique to Safari as a web browser and, although it stretches the boundaries of "first", the built-in support is much more useful than a menu with news headings. It's a stretch but they'd easily be able to justify it.
