"Your global history is already being used ..."

I see that later messages in this thread have mentioned the solution
for this problem but I though I would follow up with a complete
explanation for what was happening.

There was a problem with some of the code that does the checking on the
History index file and it's lock file that we were working towards
fixing with the changes resulting in what you saw with sp32.

Previously, when the lock file for the index should have been removed,
it was not. Also, our hostname discovery method was not so reliable.
This is why some people see the message refer to old hostnames; the
lock file is likely very old and has never been removed.

While some changes made it into the sp32 release, more changes were
required for this problem to be completely solved – and we have done
that now. 4.5sp33 correctly removes the lock file when OmniWeb quits
as long as the lock file was created by that same instance of the
application.

If you're repeatedly seeing the error message on startup you will need
to delete the index. On the next startup the message should no longer
appear.

Earlier versions (since OmniWeb 4.1) would not throw a dialog, only
complain to the Error Log that the index was probably corrupt due to a
possible crash and that the index would be removed (which it was) but
the lock file never was resulting in the same message the next time you
started OmniWeb. As one engineer here stated "the error message is not
a new one it's just newly annoying".
