"Silent" download is confusing

While testing a problem with the new Adobe Reader 6 app, I encountered 
unexpected behavior with OmniWeb 4.5sp33:

1.  I click a Web page link to a small PDF file.  OmniWeb opens its 
Downloads window, the file appears in the downloads folder, and the 
Downloads window closes (my preference).  So far, so good.

2.  I delete the PDF file from the downloads folder and empty the Trash.

3.  Again, I click the same Web page link.  Nothing appears to happen.  
So I click the link a couple more times.  Still nothing.

4.  Checking my downloads folder, I find that I have several copies of 
the small PDF file.  However, none of these "silent" downloads appear 
in OmniWeb's Downloads window.

Hmmm.

P.S.  The problem with Adobe Reader 6 is that it is not launched at the 
completion of downloading the PDF.  Had it launched, I probably would 
not have noticed the silent download.
