Dock Wars

Okay, maybe the subject line IS a tad extreme, but ...

I just downloaded OmniWeb 4.2.  It looks good, so now I want to access 
OW 4.2 from my dock.  This is supposed to be easy!

I moved OW4.1 to my OldApps directory and put OW4.2 in Applications.  
On my dock I removed my old OW icon and dragged a copy of the new 
(v.4.2) OW's icon to my dock.  Now when I launch OW from the dock, 
guess what---it's 4.1 that fires up!  Now I have two beautiful OW 
globes in my dock.

If I ask the dock icons to show themselves in the finder, they claim to 
be what I think they are.  The icon dragged from 4.2 shows me OW4.2 in 
the finder; the icon for the running app shows me 4.1 in the finder.

Now I ask the running app (4.1) to keep its icon on the dock.  When I 
quit OW, I still have the two icons in my dock OW4.1 and 4.2.  Now if I 
click on one icon, it's the other one that bounces up and down: the 4.1 
icon launches 4.2 and vice versa!

What's wrong with this picture?
