4.2b2 woes

I've had a pair of problems with OmniWeb 4.2 beta 2 the first time I
tried running it.

The first one I noticed was with hiding: every time I tried to hide OW
with command-H, it wouldn't work. Choosing "Hide OmniWeb" from the
menu hid all windows but not the menu bar; choosing "Hide Others" from
another application worked as expected. But, whenever I tried to open
a URL from someplace else (say, Mail), only the new window would show
up until I clicked on it somewhere--only then would the hidden windows
appear.

The second problem is with memory and CPU use. Normally OW is a bit
more resource-intensive than Safari or other programs, but now I find
it almost unusable. With only two windows open it was taking up 260M
of memory (according to top, anyway), and VSIZE was up to 900M. I
tried to flush the cache, figuring it would reduce these numbers, but
then OW's CPU usage jumped up to 70% and the VSIZE expanded about 5M
per second--frequently over 1000 pageouts per second.

Not wanting to subject my system to much more of this, I killed and
restarted OmniWeb. After that, hiding worked just fine and flushing
the cache causing no ridiculous resource consumption.

I'm on a 500 MHz iBook with 10.2.4, 384M ram.

Evan.
