"Downloads" Window Problems

I downloaded some file foo.zip. The result was apparently corrupted, so
I click on its entry in the Downloads window and clicked "Reload". The
file was downloaded a second time, but there was no progress bar in the
Downloads window; indeed the entry for the file foo.zip disappeared
entirely.

After the file completed a second download, the Downloads window became
completely empty; no entries for either the file in question or for the
half-dozen other previously-downloaded files.
