.Mac

Here's an interesting thought..
Cocoa includes the ability to run code on objects over the network,
having a single application program utilize modules sitting on entirely
separate computers, for true network computing. Objects can be
dynamically downloaded and run, hook up with objects sitting on the
server computer, and everything would be as seamless as running a
program on your own computer, except probably a little more lagged
depending on your network connection. Seems with Cocoa, Apple is in a
better position to do a .NET than Microsoft is, without even doing
anything.
Not to say that .Mac has anything to do with .NET. My guess is that
they are rebranding it as something that more average people will
recognize as what it is - a collection of services you can use over the
internet to expand upon your Macintosh experience. iTools, to someone
who doesn't know better, probably sounds like a $20 case of tiny
screwdrivers you use to open an iPod to replace its battery.
