I think a more likely reason for the name change is to avoid conflict
with Tenon's iTools (<http://www.tenon.com/products/itools-osx/>).
Regardless, the fact that .Mac name sounds similar to .NET in no way
suggests that Apple is about to adopt product activation and the like
into its operating system.
