I have entered this as a feature request and we'll consider it for a
future version of OmniWeb. As far as I know we plan to make some
changes to History for version 5.0 so hopefully what we come up with for
that version will help you out.

I have filed a bug on this; it certainly is inconsistent behavior.
Adding a bookmark via the menu/toolbar item is the only time we file at
the bottom of a list. Any time we're filing in a subfolder it goes to
the top.

You have no doubt seen how many people feel about this already :-) We
tend to prefer our current, standard text field behavior. As others
have mentioned, there are a few ways you can easily select the entire
URL:
1. Use command-L
2. Triple-click in the field
3. Click in the field either before or after the text that is currently
there and then drag down and slightly towards the opposite end of the
location bar to have it select all text without you having to drag the
entire length of the URL.
