I'm not sure, but I believe this is part of Apple HIG. It's in every app,
it's always been this way. Single click places cursor, double selects the
"word" and triple selects the line. If I recall correctly, Windows is the
only OS that doesn't do it this way, Linux follows the Apple method. A
triple click is very fast when you do it, and so is command-L. Don't add
this suggestion, don't even make it a pref.
