Our current internal builds have this feature for local files.

I don't believe we ever thought of this - sounds nice to me, although I 
think we have Cocoa support for the local files and that it would be 
more problematic to support it for remote files. I've filed a feature 
request on it. (But we're getting down to the wire on 4.0 final, so new 
features are a very low priority at this point.)
