In OmniWeb, proxy addresses are specified as a URL, e.g.  
http://XX.XX.XX.XX:80/.

Sounds like your proxy server entry is confusing OmniWeb:  it's  
presumably trying to connect to your proxy server using the  
"XX.XX.XX.XX" protocol, rather than the "http" protocol, but  
misreporting the error.  If you update your proxy server entry as  
described above, this problem should disappear.
