OmniWeb 3.0 beta 8 now available / some problems

This is an update to the previous notice of an incompatibility between OmniWeb 3.0 beta 8 and NeXT hardware. We now believe that the problem may be more based on network configuration. We have been able to confirm that beta 8 runs fine on some NeXT hardware, and we suspect that it may give problems with certain configurations no matter what the hardware, though we currently believe that the suspect configuration is fairly rare. At this point we're still trying to nail down the exact problem and come up with a solution.

The problem manifests itself as a crash while the application is attempting to launch. An error message is logged to the system console (accessible via the Tools menu). This error message concludes something like "failed to join the address 224.12.56.19". If you are experiencing this problem, we encourage you to send email to omniweb3 at omnigroup.com with details of your system configuration (hardware, OS version, whether or not you use PPP, whether or not you have an ethernet card, etc). PPP users encountering this problem may wish to check and make sure that their PPP connection is up as this may have an effect on the behavior.
