A preliminary (0.3) version of the Ad Filter OmniWeb bundle for users of
OmniWeb 3.0 (http://www.omnigroup.com) for OPENSTEP 4.2 users is available
for limited distribution. A version for Rhapsody and wider distribution
will be announced at a later date.

The Ad Filter bundle eliminates the graphic associated with an
advertisement for those URLs that match user defined strings. If a site
you visit has a banner ad that annoys you or consumes much bandwidth, you
can now get rid of it.

Future Enhancements will include better filter string management
(import/export of filter strings), regular expression support, and url
/and/ content-type filtering (currently only image/gif content-type urls
are supported).

To obtain this version, send email to jamacht at pobox.com requesting that
you be sent the Ad Filter bundle. The current version is compiled for
NeXT, Intel, and SPARC platforms, but is only tested on Intel.

To enable the Ad Filter bundle, copy AdFilter.omniweb to a directory on
the OmniWeb bundle path, which includes ~/Library/Components or
/LocalLibrary/Components. The filter includes a very limited set of
default strings with which to filter advertisements, which you can add to
by using the Ad Filter Preferences page, in the User section of the
OmniWeb Preferences panel. The preference panel also allows the enabling
or disabling operation of the bundle as a whole.

Warning: Adding ".gif" or any part thereof as a filter string may
significantly impair your ability to view web pages properly. Use it with
care.
