Hmmm, then again, some will like the way OW does it, some won't.
I personally think handing ftp and news off to whomever is the right way. The newsreader and ftp client writers (Hi!) should be able to make their programs accept URLs of the appropriate format without much work.
BTW I again prefer RadicalNews; it's absolutely the best I've seen so far (and I've seen many).
