Controlling Note Alignment

Morning,
I'd like to change the default placement of notes so that they align  
with the first letter of their parent item (and if a prefix has been  
added they will still align to the first letter of their parent item).

For example:
I. Major Topic
Note about major topic

The 'N' in the note should align to 'M' in Major Topic.

Is this possible to control?
