audio recording issue

Hello,
I just upgraded to the pro version and I'm having trouble getting the
audio recording to work properly. When I select 'record' from the
toolbar I get a message that says "unable to configure the selected
audio input device." In the sound capture preference tab, I selected
the input device I use to record audio into my Mac - a M-Audio
Firewire 410. The device is working in all other applications
including GarageBand, Logic, and the sound recording feature in
Journler. I have the most recent driver, and am running 10.4.8. I
tried switching the sound capture input device from the Firewire 410
to the 'system default', but I got the same message when trying to
record. When trying the 'Built in Audio' setting it seemed to work,
but I don't have a way to hook up my input device to the system input
to record because it is a firewire device. I tried playing around in
the sound preference pane, but there is not much to play around with.
My input device is set to the 'Firewire 410'. I logged out>in and
bypassed all login items to be sure that their was no way any other
application was using my input device. I also did some general
maintenance such as a restart and repair permissions, but to no
avail. If you have any ideas how I can get the sound capture to work
with my device, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Eric
