Using the keyboard to open attachments

Do you mean previewing the attachment or opening it in the default  
app? Highlighting an attachment (command-shift-arrow left/right) and  
pressing the spacebar will open the attachment in the default app but  
as far as previewing, clicking on the arrow icon seems to be the only  
way.
