Attaching or linking emails

It's been over a week, but I'd like to revisit this topic again  
because I'm in dire need of a way to put links to Mail messages into  
OmniOutliner.

I've looked over the script, but I don't understand what you mean by  
"reference". What exactly is the difference between a reference and a  
link?
