jumping

Hi,
Glad to be joining you all. My question is about the program jumping  
around when I try to move the curser. When I try to change placement  
of the curser the program jumps back to where I had it previously,  
and when I scroll up to where I want it the curser is there. Is there  
a way to fix this so that the program goes to where I place the  
curser not to where the curser was?
