How do you manage your tasks without automated reminder?

Greetings,

Managing most of my tasks with OO I have a problem, that I loose 
control on my tasks... I am *very* interested in your recommendations 
or experiences (may be there is a FAQ somewhere that discusses that 
already?) how you keep control of many tasks on different levels? Each 
of my rows (tasks) has a field "date" whoch represents the day when I 
have to work on that task. Eg in Outlook I get a reminder on those 
tasks so the tool (Outlook) helps me to not forget anything.

How can I do that with OO without reading through my big task list 
every day? (Sorting is not possible because of the many different 
levels and topics).

Any help is highly appreciated.
