I'm not sure that you're that off base with this being a feature
request. It might be the principle that's required rather than the
actual way that you've suggested that it be implemented. I for one have
made this request a few times and I still think that nothing has yet
beaten my outlining experience in Word 4 (gasp, shriek). I think OO
does lots of very clever things such as columns BUT sadly it fails me
as my 'MUST HAVE' writers document that gets used all the time when I'm
composing documents.

Yes, this is PRECISELY what I want too. Given that my preferred word
processor is unlikely to incorporate outlining in it's impending cocoa
release (Nisus) and given that OO is unlikely to expand it's
functionality into a mediocre word processor, my own suggestion was
that something akin to an OpenDoc arrangement be made between OO and
Nisus (or whatever word processor is relevant). Brian C., probably
correctly, said that this was for the moment way too difficult. I still
think it's worth putting in the request though that what many writers
find is that the ability to view a word processed document in any stage
of it's production in an outlined mode, is almost indispensable in
terms of crafting the flow of ideas as the document continues to be
produced.

I've gone into a 'plead and/or harangue' mode with both OO and Nisus

Well for me, I'm glad you did.

Best,

Robin
