exporting to HTML doesn't observe checkboxes

Hello,

I am new to the list, thanks for a great resource!  When i export a OO 
doc to HTML, it seems to just check every single item, rather than 
selectively as i've done in the native doc.  this is kind of a useless 
feature, because not everybody has a mac, and html is the only 
universal way of sharing our documents.  any suggestions?
