Quick Question/Suggestion

I was thinking of using omnioutliner for school note taking. However, I 
can' find the shortcut to get from the outline header to the notes 
section to do more extensive note taking. Or should I just start typing 
in the outline part above....looking for a quick fast solution to 
outlining...I am even considering Word X for my outlining program, but 
would love to stay away from Microsoft.
