No, I've been tempted to try writing conduits but been advised to stay
out of it because it takes to much time 8-)

Basic syncronization shouldn't be a problem since one item in an outline
probably is the same kind of unit as an address in the address book
(I've only seen one format and in that it works like that, but I would
be suprised if it didn't in the other formats also).

The problem is that an item in an outline has a dependency of its parent
and its siblings (the children shouldn't be a problem I think) ... the
situation becomes more complex but it's difficult to say how much extra
information is needed to make this reliable in most cases. 

Well, I'm in the happy situation that I haven't done a Palm outliner or
a Mac outliner (but the problem would be the same if two OO outlines
were to be synced to each other) so I don't have to come up with a
solution 8-) (although it would be tempting to try!!)
