Format of numbers (feature request)

I never got a reply for this feature request, so here is a repost to the 
user list:

I want to list phone numbers in a number column, and in Denmark our 
numbers is listed as "## ## ## ##".

It would be very nice, if I could make a custom format for numbers, 
where every # indicated a single digit. So you americans would probably 
want "(###) ### ###"
