Here's some initial feedback on Beta 1 of 2.0. Hope it's useful. (cc

    - Observations on OmniOutliner 2.0 Beta 1
    - Info Window
        - Should never be key
        - Row Levels Section
            - "Level xx" labels seem editable - don't think they ought to
              be?
            - Checkboxes are also tickable and untickable - doesn't seem
to
affect the state of checkboxes in the column.
        - Column Type Section
            - Enumerated column types don't seem to work (NSTextField
isn't enabled)
            - Summaries need some more conceptual explanation (at least
for
              me :-)
*      - Column Style Section
            - What does 'Width' field do?
            - Do alignment buttons have any effect on the outline column?
    - Navigation
        - There should be a keystroke to move between editing an item and
editing its note (c-x c-o for the emacs fans?)
        - The notes icon would be a useful point from which to drag the
contents of the associated note. It's the first thing I thought
          it was for :-)
        - Double clicking the note separator bar should toggle it between
          fully collapsed and open
    - Bugs
        - When one groups selected items, the new parent has a note icon
in
the note column. Seems like a bug.
        - On an iBook keyboard, no distinction is made between return and
the little enter key - both behave like return, creating a new
item. Enter should end editing the current row and not create
          anything new, right?
        - When you shrink the last column from the right hand side, the
background of the window shows through the gap between the
resize
          point and the scroll bar.
        - If an item has a summaried column (say a number column with
calculated summaries) and a value in that column, indenting
items
below it will cause that cell in the summaried column to take on
the value of the summary. Outdenting the item doesn't put the
cell back to it's old value. Undo does put the old value back,
but it can be annoying because indent and outdent feel like they
should be exact opposites and they're not.
        - Typing in notes field doesn't dirty the document
        - Make a new file, press return, then tab (where tab indents the
item). The parent gets selected rather than the new child item.
          Slightly irritating bug....
    - Feature Requests
        - Import/export plugin API, as mentioned in previous post to the
          list
        - The ability to copy items in most of the formats that OO can
export to, specifically HTML (but also plain text, RTF and maybe
PDF). I often find myself wanting to post parts of outlines in
web forums and it's a PITB to export to HTML, open BBEdit, and
copy and paste. Same goes for putting plain text into a mail
mesasge. Much nicer if OO could just put HTML source straight
          onto the clipboard.
        - I think URL and Mailto should be options for Column Type, with
          browser/mail client integration
        - The ability to 'alias' a row would be cool. Sometimes I want
something in two categories, but I don't want to have to keep
two
          copies up to date.
        - A template fragment window would be great. I have an outline
where every week I make a new item ("Week beginning xx-xx-2002")
and fill it out with subitems for every day of the week. It
would be neat if there was a way to define a palette of standard
hierarchy clipping that could be dropped into outlines wherever.
    - Praise
        - Info Window's collapsible sections are way cool
        - Enumerated columns will rock
