Canvases sidebar and annoying icon behaviour

Hi all,
I¹ve Just upgraded to OmniGraffle 5. I¹m liking many of the new changes,
but one change is driving me absolutely crazy. The Canvases sidebar now
only displays icons for hidden or locked layers, unless a layer is the
selected layer, or unless my mouse rolls over it. Why? From a user
interface point of view, it¹s very confusing. For example, if I have some
layers hidden, and some visible, then the sidebar displays hidden layers
with a light grey crossed-out eye, visible layers with no eye at all, except
for the active layer, which has a dark grey eye. Likewise for locked /
unlocked layers. Having two different displays for the same state,
dependent on whether the layer is ³current² or not, is very confusing.
I¹ve been working with it for a day or so now, to check that it¹s not just
me getting used to the change. After 10 hours of use, it¹s getting more and
more annoying! Particularly annoying is the inconsistency between how the
icons are displayed for the current layer, and how they are displayed for
other visible / unlocked layers.
I would make a strong plea for a return to the Omnigraffle 4 layer icon
behaviour, with the icons always being visible, reflecting the layer¹s
current state. This is far less confusing, especially when working with
lots of layers of mixed visibility and lock state.
I¹m also confused as to the difference between the ³current² layer (the one
with a border round its icon), and the ³active² layer (the one with a pencil
next to it). What¹s the difference?
Dave.
