editing stencil in graffle pro 4.5

Here's one way, using OG's very handy intersection feature:

1.  Draw a rectangle (or other shape) over one half of the state.

2.  Select both the state and the rectangle objects.

3.  Edit > Shapes > Intersect Shapes


Voila!  Now you have half a state.
