Taking it to 3D...?

Hello,

I use OG Pro regularly to create all sorts of diagrams. But I'm working with
an electrician right now who wants something a bit more CAD-like, e.g. I need
to take some drawings into 'the third dimension' to make 3D / isometric plots
describing how cables will be routed through conduit, and in what
quantities/diameters, etc.

I have looked at apps like SketchUp but the price tag is a bit prohibitive. On
the other hand, I have worked within Blender but I find the UI a bit stifling.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions about what apps I might consider
using, and more importantly -- whether there is any kind of workflow that
might let me take my existing shapes, connections, etc. from OG Pro and flow
them into (whatever)? Not having to re-draw the wheel would be a nice plus.

(fwiw, if anyone feels that this goes too far outside of the guidlines of list
discussion, please feel free to reply to me offline.)

Thanks,
