For Visio compatibility, I have found that some things will change across platforms, but I have found that if shadowing is not used, and if you don't use the transparency option, things tend to work better with Visio 2003. Also make sure you stick to fonts that are available on both platforms. Overall I still find the support to and from Visio pretty weak, but I have found that since 99% of my drawings go into FrameMaker, I can save as a PDF or EPS and be good. I usually export a Visio document and put that into the folder with the rest of the graphics in case one of the other writers in my group needs to work on my documents. However, I usually like to make graphical changes myself.
