What we do is to (manually) insert a text object with the string "$Id$" 
somewhere in the drawing. Because we keep the OG XML files under CVS 
control this will then be automatically expanded to the CVS Id tag 
(since cvs rewrites that string in the source automatically). This 
suits our purposes perfectly, but I realize it is not exactly what 
you're asking for.
