Looks clear on screen, but I don't have a printer to test with.

GC turns the PDF into a bitmap; I believe it's at 300 dpi.  Your 
comparison of the zoom in GC/Word and Preview shows this, too; what 
you're getting with the WMF is a 300 dpi version of your original 
vector image.  The major advantage to using WMF with Word would be if 
it gives a smaller file size than a TIFF or PNG.
