[bug] dragged groups are very jerky

There is a wierdness in dragging groups
  
replication:

    1. make some objects (say 8-12 objects)
    2. group them (select and hit cmd-shift-G)
    3. drag the group around the screen in short and long moves

expected: smooth move

obtained --> moves very jerkily, appears to move backwards sometimes, as if
the move algorithm forgets set the group location relative to the mouse
location within the group.
