Thank you to all of you who came to our talk at the Apple store in
San Francisco last week and also to those of you who stopped by our
booth at Macworld. We got a lot of great feedback about OmniFocus.
We're very excited about it and promise you we are working hard on it!
We've added a new webpage to our site for OmniFocus:
We'll continue to add more information and keep you updated on our
progress. Feature requests and suggestions can still be sent to
omnifocus@omnigroup.com.
Thanks for your interest and support!

Hello, all! (Would you believe that there are over 2,500 people
subscribed to this OmniFocus beta mailing list?)
We're not quite ready to post a beta release for you to download--but
I did want to let you all know that we just posted an OmniFocus
screenshot and feature overview on our blog:
http://blog.omnigroup.com/2007/04/20/omnifocus-screenshot-and-feature-overview/
We look forward to your comments!

Our blog server started crashing within two seconds of plugging it
into the network until we finally got it tuned right. Which (*knock
on wood*) I think we've finally done. (Either that, or you've all
given up for the day.)
So I'm probably inviting disaster by doing this, but I thought I'd let
you all know that our blog is finally back up.

Hello again, all! (And a big welcome to the 500 of you who've
subscribed in the last week!)
Now that our servers have recovered from posting those OmniFocus
screenshots, we've decided to try something even more ambitious:
we've posted an OmniFocus overview movie recorded by our good friend
and brave pioneer user Ethan Schoonover, the author of Kinkless GTD(*):
http://blog.omnigroup.com/2007/04/30/ethan-schoonovers-omnifocus-
overview-video/
Ethan's target audience is, well, all of you! His video introduces
some of the unique features of OmniFocus, so that when we post our
first downloadable builds you'll hopefully already have some notion
of how you can put it to good use.
Please feel free to post any questions or feedback to our blog or
forums (**)--or just send them directly to us at
omnifocus@omnigroup.com--and we hope you enjoy this more detailed
look at OmniFocus!
Thanks,
Ken

Hello again! (And welcome to the hundred-plus subscribers that have
joined this list in the last 12 hours.)
If yesterday's link worked for you, you don't need to read the rest of
this message. (Sorry for the additional interruption!)
It appears that some email clients had trouble reading the link I
posted yesterday, because it got split across two lines during
transport. (It's easy to forget how fragile email can be!) As a
result, a bunch of you got sent to a page which had some navigation
bars but content that simply said:
Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.
If that describes your experience, please try this shorter link instead:
I'll try to remember to post shorter links in future messages.
Cheers,
Ken

Subject: What's new in the land of OmniFocus?
Message-ID: <312DD264-EB53-4300-A11C-A1326055BD38@omnigroup.com>
Hi, all!
Has it really been a month since I posted to the list? In some ways
it seems a lot shorter--but in many ways it seems like much, much
longer. So, what have we been up to over the past month? (Other
than seeing this list grow to over 7,500 subscribers?) Quite a bit,
it turns out (despite the relative quiet on this list!). So much
that I'm going to have to resort to using footnotes in this message...
About two weeks ago, we started sending invitations out to early
subscribers of this list to try out our latest (unstable) internal
builds of OmniFocus [1]. We started out by sending out one hundred
invitations, then followed that up with five hundred the next day,
then a thousand--and then we started getting a little overwhelmed [2]
with the wonderful feedback we were getting from our early testers,
so we started moderating our pace a bit. We've now sent out
invitations to everyone who subscribed to this list before March 28,
and if you want to check on the latest status I've posted a status
thread to our forums [4].
Meanwhile, Ethan relaunched his Kinkless web site, publishing a
second screencast about OmniFocus [3] as well as some very practical
advice on cleaning up your desktop [5].
To those of you who subscribed early enough to receive sneaky peek
invitations, we've pushed out about 125 sneaky peek builds in the
last two weeks, with updates around the clock (even through the
holiday weekend). Hopefully you've noticed some dramatic
improvements in that time!
Next week will be very busy as well, as we try to squeeze in as much
development as we can before heading down to San Francisco to attend
Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference. Speaking of which, we're
thinking about having some sort of OmniFocus get-together while we're
all there (Ethan and Merlin will be there too), though we're still
trying to work out the exact timing and venue. The most likely time
at this point seems to be Wednesday evening, but we'll let you know
when we have more details. (If you're interested in attending, we'd
love to hear from you: please RSVP to omnifocus-wwdc@omnigroup.com.)
Thanks to all of you for your time and interest, and especially our
early testers for putting up with pre-beta software and sending us
some great feedback! Keep those cards and letters coming, it really
helps us understand what's working well and what still needs work.
Cheers,
Ken

We'd like to invite anyone attending Apple's WWDC to join Ethan
Schoonover, Merlin Mann, and the OmniFocus development team for an
informal gathering on Wednesday evening. We'll be meeting from
6:15pm-7:15pm in the 2nd floor - Olympic room at the Westin Hotel, one
block from Moscone. (If you saw an earlier invitation in response to
an RSVP or in the OmniFocus message of the day, please note the 6/12
change in venue! This room is larger than the previous two rooms.)
I hope to see some of you there!
Ken
P.S. -- While we're particularly inviting those attending WWDC
(because we'll be back in San Francisco at the Apple Store next
Thursday), a WWDC badge is not required to attend.

Sorry for the extra interruption: apparently there are two Westin
hotels nearby; the one we're meeting in is
(and used to be called the Argent).
More details on our presentation at the Apple Store _next_ week can be

Subject: OmniFocus 1.0 will ship on January 8
Message-ID: <7F61E7B3-21EF-4BAE-86C5-E5D51052E87F@omnigroup.com>
Hi, all!
You wouldn't know it from the silence on this mailing list, but it's
been a very, very busy six months for OmniFocus: we've sent out
"sneaky peek" invitations to 16,193 people, read 20,232 email messages
sent directly to our support ninjas (at omnifocus@omnigroup.com) and
another 8,326 messages posted to the OmniFocus forums (at ), and we've published over 500 "sneaky peek" releases of the
software.
We could probably go on indefinitely in this state: you continue to
give us lots of great ideas for ways in which we could improve the
software further, and it's hard to resist implementing a good idea
when we hear it. But it's time to draw the OmniFocus 1.0 development
cycle to a close and give you all a stable version that you can use
without having to download a new update each week.
So, I'm pleased to (finally!) announce that we will be shipping
OmniFocus 1.0 on January 8, 2008. OmniPlan 1.0 licenses will sell for
$79.95 when it ships--but you can pre-order licenses starting today
for just $39.95 (saving $40), and can save even more if you already
own a copy of OmniOutliner Pro or purchase more than one license.
--
In related news, a number of you have been asking when we might
publish an updated video overview (since after 500 releases the last
one was starting to feel just a wee bit out of date!). Ethan has been
understandably busy, since he's been moving himself and his family
from Hong Kong to Seattle to join Omni as our head of marketing
(welcome, Ethan!)--but now that he's finally here and getting settled
in, he's recorded an updated video which we're posting to our updated
OmniFocus web site. You'll find it at www.omnigroup.com/omnifocus.
Enjoy!
Ken

And by "OmniPlan 1.0 licenses," I mean "OmniFocus 1.0 licenses." (No

in preorders for OmniFocus, making this one of our strongest product

We're still hard at work (as you can see if you've been following

it's inspiring to see that the time and resources our team has
