hostname conflict

In my Sharing preferences, both the computer name and the Edit...  
subnet name are "fleegle" (fleegle.local). But if I type "hostname"  
into a shell, I get "brain," which was the machine's hostname long  
ago. Apache responds on http://brain but not on http://fleegle .  The  
machine shows up via Back to my Mac as "fleegle."

Any idea how this hostname conflict could have happened or how I can  
fix it?
