Using Eclipse rather than Xcode

I played with Eclipse for a few hours in order to do C++ builds on a 
generic Linux disty. This was a couple years ago. I wasn't able to 
get it to work but then I hadn't actually used Eclipse for anything 
else. You may have better luck because you know how Eclipse is 
supposed to behave, and hopefully someone has spent a bit more time 
getting the C++ package to work more reliably.
