Quick[sic]TimePro

I foolishly agreed to record a TV programme for a friend and now have  
a .ts file on my computer which VLC plays fine but which QuickTime  
cannot handle. Wanting to get out of the 2GB file the 10 minutes he  
wants I downloaded MPEG_Streamclip_1.9.1 but it tells me that I need  
the Apple QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component.

I have a licence for QuickTime Pro, but cannot find how to download  
it. Or is QT Pro just a registered version of the free QT player?  
Does QuickTime Pro include Apple QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component?  
I'll be damned if I'm going to give Apple 20 dollars or euros or  
pounds on top of the cash already thrown away on QT Pro.

As you can see, I'm not too sharp on movies...
