Deeply nested inboxes

I've got a friend who started having this issue after switching his
incoming mail server address from non-secure IMAP to SSL (but still
the same account on the same server). Not sure whether this list will
allow attachments, but the picture tells the story.

Basically, an deeply nested series of inboxes that keeps getting deeper.

At first I thought it was just in the display side in Mail.app but
those nested folders are also created on the server (he can see them
in webmail too). No other users on the same server have this issue
(I'm the server admin). If he deletes the nested folders they re-
occur. He's using "INBOX" as his IMAP path prefix since it's a
courier IMAP server.

I'm having trouble digging up any info about this online. Has anyone
ever seen similar? Recommended fix? I've already had him rebuild his
inbox.

Thanks,
Scot
