Leopard Mail and Exchange server

A friend just bought a new MBPro 17 (first mac) - and she needs to  
talk to her Exchange server.

Is Mail safe to use (assuming we can get it set up with her server),  
or must she use Entourage?

She bought the Home edition of Office for 149, doesn't want to spend  
400-500 on the Pro edition(s) just to get access to the Exchange server.

If she has to resort to using webmail (OWA), what browser is the most  
reliable?  Safari? Firefox ?
